Lauren (she/her), is another one of our technicians. In addition to teeth whitening, Lauren has a life coaching practice where she gets to focus on supporting clients from the inside-out, and she loves chatting all things spirituality and wellness . She also identifies as a member of the Queer community and is engaged to Al. You can find her in the clinic most days of the week.

Al
Owner, Strategy
Al (she/them), is our not-so-silent partner and assists behind-the-scenes with business, marketing, strategy, and anything that requires a good pun. She daylights in the coffee world - which is really just a creative way we’re generating new clients. Al also happens to be Lauren’s fiancé and Justine’s sister — we’re truly a family-run business!

FAQs
-
Typically, each session runs about 90 minutes. We reserve a bit of time before your treatment to explain the process and answer any questions you might have, after which you will receive 2 x 20-minute whitening sessions and an optional third 12-minute session.
-
Each session, regardless of whether it’s your first time or a returning visit, will include a pre-treatment overview and discussion. You will also have been required to read and sign our Client Consent + Waiver. We will then assess your teeth and provide you with feedback on what you can expect from your results, based on what we can observe (for example, some clients have white calcium spots on their teeth which will affect their results). From there, you will get a pre-whitening treatment to hydrate your teeth and enamel, followed by 2 - 3 whitening gel treatments under the LED lamp. Your session should last no longer than 75 - 90 minutes.
-
Many clients report having little-to-no increased sensitivity from their treatment, but each body is unique so this will vary from person-to-person. We will always do our best to avoid any contact with your gums and always provide a pre-whitening hydration treatment to decrease the chances of sensitivity occurring. We recommend you inform us of any sensitivity before, during, or after your treatment.
If you are prone to oral sensitivity, try oil pulling with sesame or coconut oil the week leading up to your appointment. The oil will provide you with extra hydration and can also help to remove any surface-level staining.
-
The gel we use is a Hydrogen Peroxide formula manufactured in Canada. It is completely safe and will not damage any veneers, caps or crowns. It also contains NO Propylene Glycol additive (Propylene glycol is a synthetic liquid substance commonly used by the chemical, food, and pharmaceutical industries and can act as an irritant and/or have other potentially harmful effects, Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, March 20, 2022).
-
People with healthy teeth and gums! We do NOT recommend teeth whitening for pregnant or lactating women, people under the age of 16, people with gum disease, open cavities, leaking fillings, or other dental conditions, or people with a known allergy to peroxide and/or to aloe vera. If you are unsure about whether you’re in good oral health, please consult with a qualified dentist.
-
As always, this will vary from person-to-person. The length of your results will depend on your diet and the substances you eat and drink, whether you smoke, the acidity levels of your saliva, and the natural shade of your teeth. That said, most clients will return every 3 - 6 months.
-
On some rare occasions, some of our clients experience sensitivity during or after their treatment. While we do our best to mitigate any potential sensitivity, this can be a natural reaction to any teeth whitening procedure and may present as discomfort to hot and/or cold foods and liquids and/or a slight achy feeling in your teeth and gums. Sensitivity should subside within 24 - 48 hours, and you can help to reduce the effects by drinking plenty of water, rinsing your mouth with coconut oil (this helps to hydrate the teeth), avoiding hot or cold beverages, or doing a gentle salt water rinse. Should your symptoms worsen or persist beyond 48-60 hours, or become unmanageable at any point, please consult with your healthcare provider and seek medical attention.
-
We love when you’re proactive about achieving the best results! Ideally (although not a requirement) you should schedule your whitening appointments after a cleaning and check-up with your dentist. This will help to ensure any plaque and build-up is removed from your teeth, and you will be better informed about the general health of your mouth, teeth, and gums. We are happy to help coordinate your whitening appointments in conjunction with your dental cleanings.
If you have fairly deep staining, you’re welcome to inquire about a touch-up session for a reduced price after your initial whitening session.

First and foremost, we are NOT Dentists or Health Care Professionals. Our services are considered cosmetic which requires a different level of education and training than dental professionals. We do not offer advice and want to empower each individual to be responsible for their own health and wellbeing, and to consult a trained healthcare professional for proper advice, guidance, and to discuss any oral and health concerns.
All of that said, each of our Whitening Technicians have undergone training and certification, and are Insured. We are passionate about ensuring proper personal hygiene and the cleanliness of our space, ingredients, and equipment. We are also continuously working towards making our practice as environmentally sustainable as possible, with plenty of room for improvement. We are open to any feedback you have on how to better your experience and our services!

Teeth Whitening procedures (regardless of where you’re getting them done) are considered to be cosmetic procedures and are NOT usually covered under Extended Health Benefits in Canada.
